Engineering Leadership · AI-Native Software Development · Cloud & Developer Platforms

Stuttgart, Germany

Profile

Engineering leader and platform architect with 16 years of software engineering experience, including 13 years at Mercedes-Benz. Built and scaled production cloud and API platforms from architecture through delivery and operations, providing technical leadership across internal teams and complex multi-vendor engineering organizations.

Experienced in distributed systems, Microsoft Azure, API platforms, technical hiring and end-to-end engineering delivery. Co-led multiple engineering teams across several external vendors, combining architecture ownership with day-to-day technical and delivery leadership.

More recently, hands-on with AI-native software engineering: a multi-agent developer platform for persistent Claude Code, Codex and Gemini teams, and an independently benchmarked chess engine with superhuman playing strength.

Particularly interested in engineering leadership, developer platforms and how organizations turn machine-speed implementation into sustainable product velocity.

Professional Experience

08/2025 – 07/2026

Technical Expert — Mercedes-Benz App & Store Mercedes-Benz AG

  • Contributed technical and architectural expertise to the evolution of software-development and quality-assurance processes within the Mercedes-Benz App & Store organization.

02/2021 – 07/2025

Technical Lead / Architect — Mercedes-Benz Digital, Data as a Service

  • Held architecture responsibility for the Mercedes-Benz Developer Platform (developer.mercedes-benz.com): a new API-management platform on Microsoft Azure with monetization capabilities, which replaced existing systems and entered production in 2022.
  • Provided technical leadership to the development team and steered external engineering partners through implementation, production rollout and continued platform evolution.
  • Designed data products based on anonymized and aggregated vehicle data for external customers.

04/2018 – 01/2021

Technical Lead / Architect — Mercedes-Benz Vans IT, Mercedes PRO

  • Co-led multiple engineering teams across several external vendors while owning technical direction, architecture and delivery for the Microsoft Azure-based backend platform powering Mercedes-Benz Vans connected fleet services.
  • Held end-to-end technical and architectural responsibility while leading internal and external engineers through technical direction, prioritization and delivery.
  • Scaled the platform and delivery organization from an innovation environment into a large-scale production service.
  • Substantially involved in technical hiring and team composition, including 10+ internal engineering hires and staffing decisions across external delivery teams.
  • Worked across engineering, product, suppliers and corporate governance in a complex multi-vendor delivery environment.

01/2016 – 03/2018

Development Engineer — Mercedes-Benz Vans IT

  • Took technical responsibility for the architecture and implementation of a cloud-based backend platform on Microsoft Azure, coordinating and commissioning external engineering partners.
  • Developed the system from an innovation platform for Future Transportation into the production backend for Mercedes PRO fleet-management services.

06/2013 – 12/2015

Development Engineer — R&D, System Architecture & Platforms

  • Component owner for the Vehicle Homepage backend, including release management, feature-rollout planning and supplier steering.
  • Designed and coordinated test automation for Mercedes connect me backend components and worked across quality assurance and backend integration.

05/2010 – 05/2013

Software Engineer Silver Atena GmbH

Engineering services role assigned to Daimler AG.

  • Contributed to requirements engineering for diagnostics of a pre-series telematics and communication control unit for the smart electric drive, working from the supplier side.
  • Developed pre-series backend components for vehicle communication in C# and initial web frontends in JavaScript.
  • Worked across requirements, vehicle interfaces and backend software during the early evolution of connected-vehicle systems.

Independent Engineering

taurhaus / Mesh Multi-Agent Developer Platform

Designed and built a cross-platform desktop platform for supervising persistent Claude Code, Codex and Gemini engineering teams across multiple projects.

  • Implemented persistent agent roles, cross-agent communication, task coordination, context recovery, worker-health modelling and session recovery.
  • Built an operational layer spanning local project state, Git history, tasks, search, agent processes and multi-agent coordination across Windows/WSL2 and macOS.
  • Built largely with the coding agents it manages; architecture, task decomposition and technical decisions stayed with me.
  • Practical finding: once the agents were fast enough, my own decisions and attention became the limiting resource.

ZigQueen AI-Native Chess Engine

AI-native UCI chess engine with independently verified superhuman playing strength — rated ~3570 Elo on the CCRL Blitz list.

  • Developed primarily through coding agents, with human ownership of architecture, experimentation, evaluation and release decisions.
  • Every generated change has to survive reproducible testing, benchmarking and self-play; nothing is accepted because it merely looks right.
