I am a computer scientist and engineering leader based in Stuttgart. For thirteen of my sixteen years in software engineering I worked at Mercedes-Benz, moving from backend development into platform architecture and technical leadership: first building the cloud backend behind Mercedes PRO fleet services at Mercedes-Benz Vans, later holding architecture responsibility for the Mercedes-Benz Developer Platform at Mercedes-Benz Digital. Most of that work happened in large multi-vendor delivery organizations, which taught me as much about decision latency and coordination as it did about software.
In 2026 I left Mercedes-Benz for a long-planned break and went deep into AI-native software engineering: ZigQueen, a chess engine built with coding agents and rated far beyond human strength by an external body, and taurhaus, a platform for running persistent agent teams. The two projects taught me the same thing from opposite directions: implementation got fast, and my attention did not.
The question I keep returning to is how engineering organizations convert machine-speed implementation into sustainable product velocity. The essay I Was the Bottleneck is my current best answer.
Background
I studied computer science at the University of Stuttgart (Diplom-Informatiker, 2009). My thesis used genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization to generate test cases for automotive embedded software, which in hindsight reads like an early rehearsal for the work I do now: letting machines search while a human defines what counts as good.
